May 13, 2020 – Upstream Network’s President, Bryan J. Rader, participated in
Broadband Communities MDU Webinar for Tier 2 Providers on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
The topics discussed from industry leaders revolved around COVID-19 and its impact on the
multi-family technology industry.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has forced schools and offices to close, Tier 2 providers have seen
a surge in internet traffic, particularly in markets that have been “quarantined.” This is happening
not only in single-family homes, but also in MDUs where there is a greater concentration of residents
accessing the internet. In this webinar, Tier 2 providers updated us on how they are handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Executives from a group of Tier 2 providers on the front lines discussed issues such as:

  • Tier 2 service provider strategies
  • Broadband usage patterns
  • The importance of broadband for MDU customers
  • How to support a surge in telecommuting and distance learning
  • How providers are preparing their networks to deal with higher usage

This was the second part of a three-part series of webinars on how MDU broadband providers and
property owners are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
